Our Coaches

Jake I.

“I’ve been climbing for about 9 years, and coached climbing for 4. In the past, I have been the head coach of the Texas A&M climbing team, and coached for team Orange Crush in Houston, which has seen success at the national level of youth competition. As both an experienced climber and routesetter, (here at ABP!) I can offer a unique and helpful insight into every aspect of climbing. I can coach individuals at any level of skill from V0 to V10.”

Drew D.

“Hi, I’m Drew. For the last decade, I have spent my time route setting and coaching in different cities across the country including Chicago, Las Vegas, and right here in Austin to name a few. I hope to provide you with fun and memorable guidance in a world-class facility. Moreover, I am eager to help you challenge yourself and grow within the sport! I specialize in endurance, which makes sense since my favorite climbing areas are the Red River Gorge in Kentucky and the various crags around Lander, WY; Las Vegas, NV; St. George, Utah; and EPC, MX! I am comfortable working with clients/athletes of any age and ability. Book a lesson for a laid-back approach to climbing that is full of intention.”

Kate B.

“Hi everyone! I’ve been climbing for about three years and have worked at ABP for almost two years now. I started climbing at the ABP Springdale location and have met amazing friends and built a great community there. I love climbing in the gym as well as outside, and have been on some really experiential climbing trips in Utah, Nevada and around the Austin area. My climbing style tends to be pretty static and technical and I find that my climbing style provides an approachable foundation for youth climbers, especially because not all climbs are designed for those of us who are shorter. My experience coaching has been primarily with kids aged 5-14, but I’m happy to work with people of all ages!”

Michael C.

“I’m Michael. I have been climbing for 13 years and coaching for 7. I teach with a holistic approach to climbing, to get the body and mind working together. Whether you want to work on new skills, projecting, fear of falling, or are just starting out, I am always stoked to help your climbing progression. I’m happy to work with all ages and skill levels. Outside of climbing, some of my passions are travel, food, and dogs.”

Kyle M.

“Hi, I’m Kyle! I’ve spent the last 4 years coaching with every level of climber, from the absolute beginner to the elite climber who is aiming to win their next competition. I am a certified personal trainer and can design a cross training plan that helps you crush your next project. I’m excited to work with you if you’re ready to work hard and have fun.

I’m passionate about working with adult and youth climbers. If you or your child is interested in competition or just prefers 1-on-1 instruction happy to coach.”

Joe H.

“My name is Joe Han and I enjoy sharing my love of climbing with intermediate and experienced climbers. I believe climbing is just as mental of a challenge as it is physical, and I help climbers cultivate mind-body awareness to improve technique, build strength, and develop a positive relationship with climbing. I am also an SPI certified outdoor climbing guide and love exploring crags both local and abroad.”

$100/hr

Andrés S.

“Howdy! My name is Andres Sanchez and I am so stoked to be teaching new-to-intermediate climbers and helping them progress. I have a lot of experience running into and overcoming obstacles that have held up my progression, and I have been extremely fortunate to have strong, experienced climbers at my side willing to help me improve. I am looking to work with climbers that want to learn stackable fundamentals they can apply throughout their whole climbing journey. I love analogies, so expect some silly wordplay and comparisons when I am teaching some of climbing’s more conceptual stuff :)”
