Developing Young Athletes

At Minneapolis Bouldering Project, we offer the premier youth bouldering training camps in the Midwest. Our camps are designed for motivated youth climbers who want to sharpen their skills, gain competition experience, and train in a supportive, high-performance environment.

From first-time competitors to Nationals-level athletes, we have a camp to meet each athlete where they are in their journey.

2026 Regional Simulation | Bouldering

Saturday, February 21 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Price: $150
Location: 2026 Region 61 Host Facility
Registration Opens: December 15

This championship-style mock competition gives athletes the chance to experience Regionals in the most realistic environment possible—at the official 2026 Region 61 host facility. Athletes will:

  • Climb on Regionals-style boulders in a competition-style format
  • Receive on-boulder coaching from our elite staff
  • Identify key trends, strengths, and growth areas ahead of the March event

Routesetting will be led by Regional Chief Mary Creegan and Senior Head Coach Tyler Williams.

2026 National Competition Skills Camp

Wednesday–Friday, June 10–12 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Price: $300

This three-day intensive camp prepares athletes for the demands of 2026 USAC Youth Nationals. Across the camp, athletes will focus on three core themes:

  • Intensity – bringing full effort and commitment to each attempt
  • Coordination – refining timing, body control, and complex movement
  • Risk – learning when and how to commit on modern comp-style boulders

Athletes will train on Nationals-style settings, receive targeted feedback, and refine their competition process.

All athletes are invited to participate in our National Simulation event immediately following the camp.

2026 National Simulation

Saturday & Sunday, June 13–14 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Our National Simulation is an elite two-day mock competition designed to mirror the experience of USAC Youth Nationals. Athletes will:

  • Climb on championship-style boulders in a Nationals-inspired format
  • Experience timed rounds, isolation, and performance under pressure
  • Receive coaching and feedback from high-level coaches and setters

Routesetting and coaching team includes:

  • Nic Oklobjiza — USAC Level 5 Setter
  • Mary Creegan — USAC Level 3 Setter
  • Senior Head Coach Tyler Williams
  • ISFS World Cup Climber Simon Hibbeler
  • Additional Bouldering Project coaches from markets around the country

This event gives athletes a rare opportunity to rehearse the full Nationals experience before the actual event.

2026 Progressive Skills Camp

Our week-long Progressive Skills Camp is designed for athletes who loved our summer camp experience and are ready for a new level of challenge. Through fun, supportive instruction, athletes build foundational climbing skills and explore more advanced movement concepts in an encouraging environment.

Perfect for athletes who are:

  • Excited about climbing and want a more challenging summer camp experience
  • Considering trying out for our youth teams in the fall
  • Unsure if they’re ready for team tryouts but want to build confidence and skills
  • Looking for a focused, progression-based week of climbing with our coaching staff

Our highest-level summer training camp, the Performance Skills Camp is built for athletes preparing for championship events such as Regionals, Divisionals, and Nationals. Throughout the week, coaches guide athletes through:

  • Advanced competition tactics and decision-making
  • Scenario-based practice under pressure
  • Refining personal routines, warm-ups, and performance processes

Perfect for athletes who are:

  • Competing at the Divisional or National level
  • Looking to sharpen their performance heading into the new USAC season and championship bound
