FAQ

How much does it cost to register? 

The cost to register is $50.00

100% of registration fees will donated to our non-profit partners. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will allocate a portion of the cash purse to each of the organizations.

 

Who does the donation go to? 

We have chosen three local non-profit organizations that will be the beneficiaries of our comp.

Austin Humane Society, Out Youth, and the Other Ones Foundation.

How do I choose a category? 

Categories are based on the height of the competitor.

 

What if I don’t know how tall I am? 

We have height category measurements posted at Westgate!

Why are there not beginner, intermediate, and advanced categories? 

We have fifteen boulders per height category of varying difficulty, so there are boulders for everyone in each height group.

Will there be judges?

Yes, each boulder problem will have a judge assigned to it. You must have a judge initial your card for your send to count.

How does scoring work?
Scoring is simple: You get one point for every boulder you complete. If you flash the boulder, that’s a plus, and attempts count. The top 5 individuals in each height category with the most tops and least attempts will move on to finals.

Do I have to arrive at the start of the session?

Nope, competitors can arrive 60 minutes prior to their session, and up to one hour before the conclusion of their session.

How long can I climb?

We have two to three-hour sessions you can climb in; competitors will be allowed to check in 60 minutes prior to their session start time and up to an hour before the session concludes.

Will scores be posted? 

Yes! Scores will be posted online by Wednesday EOD, April 3rd

Who moves onto finals?
The top 5 competitors from each height category will move on to the finals.

How do we win prizes?

1st , 2nd, and 3rd place for each category will win the right to donate a portion of the cash purse to our nonprofit partners and earn either a 6, 3, or 1 month membership for themselves! All competitors will get a raffle ticket for each boulder they complete and will have the opportunity to win awesome prizes just before finals.

Will spectators be allowed to watch me climb? 

Yes, we encourage them to come cheer on their friends! There will be designated spectating areas.

What is the refund policy?

Due to the nature of the comp we will not offer refunds. All registration fees will be donated to our non-profit partners.

Other things going on day of? 

We will have day of vendors, pet adoptions, beer starting at 4:00pm, Party World Rasslin’ and more.

Is the gym open for regular use?

Westgate will be closed all day Saturday, March 30th, other than for competitors and spectators! Springdale will be open normal hours!
