Isabelle Shoemaker

Hello! I’ve been climbing since I was a kid and grew up on the USA Climbing scene. I fell in love with movement and coaching and starting coaching right out of high school, around 7 years ago! Since then, I’ve worked with anyone and everyone from beginners teaching Intro to Rock Climbing at the University of Minnesota to our wicked good 10 year-olds here on team MBP, where I’m currently the Assistant Head Coach. My favorite clients to coach have an open mind, and are willing to fail, learn, and push themselves toward a goal!

Fun Fact: I love being outside! (Especially bouldering), but also camping, hiking, swimming, hammocking, reading… essentially anything =)

Bug D'Amato

Hi, my name is Bug and I have been a competitive rock climber since I was 6 years old and started competing on the national level by age 7. During my 13 years as a competitive youth climber, I have been a multi-time regional and divisional champion in all three disciplines of competition climbing (boulder, lead, speed). Currently, I primarily focus on training competitive bouldering athletes, specializing in competition mindset/process and high-level technical skill/movement acquisition, but I am more than happy to focus on whatever you need to help reach your individual goals!

Fun Fact: I am a total animal lover, although I never really had a choice not to be growing up with a mom in animal rescue. I don’t remember a time when there were fewer than 10 cats in the house at once!

Emily Heegaard

I’ve been climbing for 10 years, starting as a USAC climber in my teens and have done a few competitions as an adult. These days I’m happiest outside and training for outdoor goals. I love finding ways that gym climbing translates to the outdoors and digging into the nuances of movement, technique, and mindset that can take you from falling on the same move to nailing it each time. I’m especially passionate about working with women and building their confidence in the climbing & outdoor space.

Fun Fact: I competed in Boulderfest Finals in 2022!

Marley Pietz

I’ve been instructing adult classes and youth programs at MBP for two years, and I’m so excited to start individual coaching! In my own climbing I often have to think outside the box to come up with solutions that play to my strengths, and I enjoy helping others with developing problem solving skills and getting creative to find the beta that works for them. In my instruction, I place an emphasis on body positioning, footwork, and unexpected use of holds and volumes. I am particularly interested in working with other shorter climbers to give them the tools to maximize their reach, but welcome climbers of all sizes in supporting their growth and progress!

Fun Fact: I’m known to break into random song and dance – don’t be surprised if you see me jamming out on the mats between climbs!
