OUR TRAINERS

Ethan S.

I’ve worked in the fitness industry for 10+ years with a broad variety of individuals, from seasoned athletes to fitness newcomers of all ages. In my experience the key to recognizing and reaching new levels of movement capacity often lies in a paradigm shift. Exercise is regularly framed as a battle with one’s body, but in my opinion this does more harm than good. My goal is always to teach my clients how to SUPPORT their body and work WITH it, not against it, to achieve sustained progress. Movement is such a major part of our lives, learning to have fun with it can make all the difference!

As your personal trainer, I’m committed to guiding and motivating you every step of the way. With a B.A. in Exercise Physiology and in-depth experience studying biomechanics, I have a strong understanding of how the body moves. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re already an experienced lifter, we’ll break down movements to build strength, power, and flexibility that align with your unique goals. I’m passionate about helping beginners develop a love for fitness and showing seasoned lifters how to push past plateaus. I believe in functional training—preparing your body to move better in all areas of life. Let’s work together to make fitness an empowering part of your daily routine.

When I started weightlifting in 2012 I weighed 135 pounds, and I was so nervous and overwhelmed in the gym that most of my workouts were just five minutes of curls in the back corner. Luckily, I found a personal trainer at my local university who taught me a handful of simple, effective routines for weight training. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. The experience was so eye-opening that I quit my job and enrolled in a Master’s program simply because I wanted to learn everything I could about it.

There is a lot of misinformation and myth in the fitness world, and my passion as a trainer is to cut through the needlessly complex fluff to teach my clients a handful of science-based practices that are critical to long-term physical development. I’ve experienced the profound physical and mental transformation that can happen with smart, consistent training, and I want you to experience it as well.

Specialties: Strength, muscle-gain, longevity, olympic weightlifting & derivatives, sport performance, nutrition & recovery.

I am a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor with 14 years of experience in the
wellness industry. I hold a BS in Kinesiology and an MS in Exercise Science, and am currently
completing my PhD in Kinesiology. My full-time job is as a Lecturer at the University of
Minnesota, educating in the fields of Kinesiology and Public Health. As a fitness professional, I
have worked with individuals of all ages, with a special focus on the aging population. I love to
work with those who are new to exercise, and weight lifting in particular. I identify as a Disabled
and Queer human, and find that I can identify well with this population. My goal is that training
with me will increase your confidence in the gym, and that together we can design a plan to help
you meet your goals.

I am a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor here at MBP, and have been in the fitness and wellness industry for 8 years. I have my BS in Biokinetics, with a dual emphasis in human bioenergetics, and exercise science. As well as being a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. During my time in this industry I have worked with kids and adults who have never been to the gym before, special populations, and collegiate athletes. I understand everyone has different goals, and not everything works for the same person. My aim is to help you reach your goals through a customized program and training approach that is specifically tailored to you.
