Climbing Is A Path

Watching a child apply natural ability and curiosity to our walls is to witness the power of our sport. Yes, it’s meant to be fun, but under the guidance of our Youth Programs, climbing becomes a vehicle for developing resilience, confidence, and problem solving. Maybe most importantly, this is a place to build community and real life experiences.

ADVENTURE DAYS & CAMPS

No School? No problem! Our Adventure Days and camps are geared for youth ages 5-12, and offer plenty of climbing and social time.  We run them on common school holidays and during winter, spring, and summer breaks. Whether your child is an experienced climber or brand new to bouldering, they will have a blast with our instructors leading the way. Kids will learn basic climbing techniques, and terminology, and play games both on and off the wall.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Our After School Programs offer plenty of climbing and social time for school-age youth! Kids learn basic climbing techniques, terminology, and have plenty of games. Our curriculum introduces a new aspect of climbing technique each week to keep young brains & bodies engaged.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Celebrate your child’s next birthday at Minneapolis Bouldering Project with a day full of climbing and fun. We offer 3 tiers of parties so you can celebrate your special day exactly how you’d like.

Depending on your preferences, our birthday party staff provides everything from climbing instruction to challenging games located in our private party space. Best for youth ages 5-12.

We offer birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3pm and from 3:30-5:30pm.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT

Looking for a fun night out? Treat your kids to 3 hours of non-stop fun at our place! They’ll enjoy climbing and activities, followed by pizza and a kid-friendly movie. Join us for our Parents Night Out from 6-9pm on select weekends every month, where your little climber will be entertained while you reclaim some valuable “me” time. It’s the perfect way to give yourself a break and ensure your kids have a blast!

YOUTH TEAMS

Our climbing teams develop youth as climbers and humans, fostering personal growth through setting and achieving goals, developing critical thinking skills, and increasing self-confidence through a competitive platform. We offer competitive & non-competitive climb teams.

DROP-IN CLIMBING

Looking to introduce your kids to climbing without committing to a monthly club? Our Drop-In Youth Climbing sessions are designed to offer facilitated climbing experiences in a more casual cadence. Meet on select Sundays from 11:30am-12:30pm and register for one session at a time.

Drop-in Climbing is geared for youth ages 5-12.

Youth Rules and Expectations

Climbing is an exciting and fun sport—but it does come with risks. We insist on highly-attentive adult supervision in a ratio of no more than 2 kids to 1 adult to mitigate these risks for youth and other climbers. Before climbing with us, please read through our Rules and Expectations.

  1. Youth under the age of 14 must be closely accompanied by an adult at all times.
  2.  Our supervision ratio is 2 to 1; up to 2 youth climbers can be supervised by 1 adult chaperone at a time.
  3. Stay far from the walls and out of fall zones when moving through the gym or waiting to climb. A “fall zone” is anywhere on the mats where a climber could land if they were to fall.
  4. Make sure to check where a route ends before starting to climb–some routes are close together or even overlap, and you don’t want to end up directly above, below, or next to another climber.
  5. This is a climbing gym! Please save running, wrestling, horseplay, and gymnastics for other spaces.

Due to programming, the youth room is unavailable on certain days and times each week. When not in use for programming, the Youth Room is open and available for you to enjoy!

In general, the Youth Room is unavailable during the following times:

  • Weekdays from 4:30 PM – 6:30PM
  • Weekends from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • When Adventure Days & Camps are occurring
  • When a private birthday event is booked (often occurring on Saturdays and Sundays: 1PM – 3PM, 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

Have questions about climbing, the facility, or risk? Ask our staff—we are here to help.
