Exploring the Power of Hot Fusion Yoga | Bouldering Project

Written by: Elise Rehberg

Bouldering Project is a space built around movement for community. An interconnection of climbing, fitness, and yoga for everyonewhether you’re unrolling your mat for the first time, or have made Bouldering Project part of your routine. The integration of these different movement practices makes for the most enriching experience.

Hot Power Fusion Yoga does just that: blends yoga with fitness, layers in breathwork for a connection of brain to body, and increases the heat for added physiological benefits. Find focus, stretch deeper, and build strength to feel healthier for any adventure that lies ahead.

More Than Breaking a Sweat: The Physiological Benefits of Hot Fusion

Hot Fusion classes challenge your body to regulate under the stress of heat. Boost blood flow and build resistance to stress by exercising in a hot studio. Feel stronger in class and outside of the studio.

Practicing in a hot studio stimulates beneficial physiological responses:

  • Your heart beats faster, and your blood vessels dilate more. More blood and oxygen gets moved through your body to muscles and organs.
  • The lymphatic system wakes up, stimulating lymphatic drainage and reducing inflammation.
  • Hot power yoga introduces useful hormetic stressors, and your body’s defense mechanisms kick on. You develop adaptations that increase brain and body resiliency, lasting long after the practice closes.
  • The combination of heat, movement, and breath awakens the parasympathetic system which keeps you calm. Find the ability to remain regulated and relaxed in times of stress.

Cross-training for Stronger Climbing

Climbing heavily trains pulling strength through your arms, shoulders, and back. Without cross-training, this can lead to muscle imbalances, causing strains, tightness, and injuries. Balance your muscular system by training the opposing push muscles in a Hot Fusion Yoga class.

Flexibility and mobility builds with consistency over time. Practice Hot Fusion Yoga to step to higher feet, open up more mobile hips, and broaden your range of motion on the climbing wall.

Keep your feet from dropping. On steep roof climbs and techy overhang climbs, core strength built from Fusion Yoga will keep your feet on the wall, and keep you climbing.

It’s All Connected – Fusing Flow With Fitness for a Whole Body Experience

Immerse into a class that does it all, from aerobic work that energizes, to a release of breath and body for a deep stretch. Power Fusion Yoga is a versatile class adaptable to how you show up each day.

Mindful movement through yoga

  • Build strength and endurance through isometric holds that keep your muscles under tension.
  • Flow through sequences to control concentric and eccentric movement and develop coordination.
  • Relax into yoga poses to find flexibility, and pull into positions to increase active mobility.

Connect with your breath:

  • Breathwork regulates your nervous system, providing clarity and a sense of calm.
  • Focus your energy on your practice for a more meaningful and productive class.
  • Breathe and release, connect breaths in and out to push, squeeze, rest, and reset.

Boost your workout with fitness exercises:

  • Raise your heart rate with cardio like jumping jacks, dance, and kickboxing.
  • Build core strength with pilates movements, planks, and stability exercises.
  • Introduce weights to movements for added strength challenges.

A Holistic Fitness Experience

A diverse fitness experience makes for the strongest mind and body. Practicing yoga provides flexibility, mental focus, and breath regulation. Heat improves your body’s resistance to stress. Strength training builds muscles and power, and cardio trains heart health.
