Youth Programs

A LIfetime of Climbing Starts Here

Kids are natural climbers and watching them discover climbing makes for a special part of the Bouldering Project experience. Our youth programs teach kids skills like resilience, problem-solving, camaraderie, and calculated risk taking—all while tapping in to their love of adventure.

After School Clubs

After-school clubs at ABP offer tailored curriculum to young climbers ages 5 to 18. Throughout the semester, we teach climbers foundational skills and help them progress to more advanced techniques and challenges. We emphasize challenge-by-choice, offering enthusiastic direction and feedback, and celebrating every moment of growth.

Youth Team

Our Youth Climbing Team program fosters personal growth through setting and achieving goals, developing critical thinking skills, and increasing self-confidence in a competitive platform. Our team program is offered to climbers 8-18 years old.

Youth Camps

Youth Camps at Austin Bouldering Project give youth the opportunity to immerse themselves in bouldering fun! Whether your child is an experienced climber or brand new to bouldering, they will have a blast with our ABP instructors leading the way. Kids will learn new aspects of climbing, connect with new friends, and gain confidence on the wall.

Birthday Parties

Celebrate your child’s next birthday at ABP with a day full of climbing and fun. Rent out our private party room, or level up and book instructors to lead fun and challenging games. Located in our private party space.

Parents' Night Out

Skip the babysitter and still have a night out! Meanwhile, your kids experience a fun-filled night away from their parents. Every night’s activities are a little different, but we’ll always play climbing games and end the night with pizza and a movie.

Youth Rules and Expectations

Climbing is an exciting and fun sport—but it does come with risks. We insist on highly-attentive adult supervision to mitigate these risks for youth and other climbers. Before climbing with us, please read these tips.

  1. Youth under the age of 14 must be closely accompanied by an adult at all times.
  2.  Our supervision ratio is 2 to 1; up to 2 youth climbers can be supervised by 1 adult chaperone at a time.
  3. Stay far from the walls and out of fall zones when moving through the gym or waiting to climb. A “fall zone” is anywhere on the mats where a climber could land if they were to fall.
  4. Make sure to check where a route ends before starting to climb–some routes are close together or even overlap, and you don’t want to end up directly above, below, or next to another climber.
  5. This is a climbing gym! Please save running, wrestling, horseplay, and gymnastics for other spaces.
